Running A 7 Figure Online Business Without A Smartphone
Recently we shared this reel and got a ton of questions like…”But you are on a screen right now creating this content!?”
So YES, we are a screen free family in that we don’t use screens to pacify our kids (or eachother) as of two years ago…but we do love them to create content for our online businesses.
Doug is a complete tech nerd. Him and his PC with an ergonomic keyboard, chair, double screen, and little wrist pad will be buried in the grave with him! So we love technology lol BUT there have been times where it’s taken over our life…giving us major anxiety and sucked us in like an addiction. As you can imagine, it’s hard to escape when your work is basically your phone! But here’s how we do it…
- We don’t post via phones. As you read this, I’m typing it in a Word doc, uploading it to Google drive, and giving it to our assistant with photo/videos and she posts M-F. It IS obviously still us typing this (mainly me (Hayley) because Doug hates social media ironically unless it has to do with race cars lol), but she helps keep us off our phones and gets paid doing it- we’re SO grateful!
- We have flip phones but do keep one iPhone as a “house phone” which has social on it. We need it as a backup for two factor authentication (aka to get into social accounts), but we still do everything via a computer. You can upload anything from a computer!
- We film most everything with a camera so we aren’t using an iPhone. This is Doug’s personal preference. I know it’s weird, but it’s less invasive if we use a camera AND again, keeps us off a phone.
- We work at night or during naps. Sometimes we will have a babysitter come for 3 hours at a time, BUT we still have our 6 month old and we mostly use that time to get an uninterrupted long conversion in that isn’t at midnight LOL.
That’s how we do it! We actually prefer the constraints of not using phones because it forces us only to work when our kids are sleeping or during their quiet times.
